KID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS is celebrating 42 years of musical madness this year.
KID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS was born out of the red-hot embers of DR BUZZARD’S ORIGINAL SAVANNAH BAND. In the 1970’s the Savannah
Band had successfully merged the big band sound of the 1940’s (Duke Ellington, Cab Calloway, Artie Shaw, Count Basie, Louis Prima) with the dance floor beat of the disco era. August Darnell (aka The Kid) jumped ship in 1981 and decided to form his own band. He fused the big band sound with every strain under the sun – calypso, soca, salsa, rhythm and blues, soul, jazz, funk, hip-hop, country and western, etc., etc., etc. Kid Creole and the Coconuts thus became pioneers of what became known as mongrel music. In other words – a delicious but strange potpourri of Urban Tropicalism!
Enjoying huge success around the world for over 40 years, the band has so far released 15 albums, 7 compilations and 30 singles. To celebrate the band’s 40th Anniversary, KC&C re-released a special edition of their first studio album ‘Off the Coast of Me’ in 2020. At the end of 2021, KC&C released their latest album entitled ‘Nothin’ Left but the Rest’. Some critics have already noted that this one is “arguably their best album yet!”
These days the Kid has his own record label called 2C2C Music. This is the home for all the band’s new releases. Get involved.

Il 4 Luglio del 2003 moriva a Los Angeles uno tra i più grandi cantautori e polistrumentisti della storia della musica: Barry Eugene Carter. Tutti l’hanno conosciuto ed amato con il nome di Barry White!
Io quel giorno ho perso un altro artista che mi ha fatto innamorare della musica e che ho sempre inserito e cantato nel mio repertorio. Proprio insieme ai miei compagni della Canthina Band e grazie alla collaborazione di straordinari musicisti e vocalist… abbiamo deciso di dare vita ad un progetto che ogni anno rendesse al nostro idolo il giusto tributo!
Nasce così la “Frankie & Canthina Orchestra – Barry White Tribute”
Da ormai diversi anni è la serata dove 21 elementi d’ Orchestra cantano, ballano, sognano e si emozionano insieme ai tanti seguaci del Maestro!!!
Un affetto ed un successo incredibili!

Dagli storici locali di musica dal vivo e da location prestigiose di Roma (dal The Place alla terrazza del Palazzo dei Congressi; dal B-Live..) fino alle piazze più suggestive ed esotiche (da Porto Ercole alla calda Giovinazzo alla splendida Amalfi etc..etc..).
Una Orchestra che oggi ho l’onore di rappresentare ed è così composta:
