The schauinsland-reisen Jazz Rally brings jazz\, swing\, funk and soul at the highest level to Düsseldorf in 64 concerts. About half of the performances are open air and therefore free for everyone! \nWe have put together a varied program for you: Funk and jazz legend Fred Wesley\, the French jazz trumpeter Erik Truffaz and the furious Jazzrausch Bigband will be there as well as Wolfgang Haffner & Allstar Band\, the singer-songwriter Charles Pasi\, the outstanding Polish Anna Maria Jopek Quartet and Señor Coconut \, which causes a sensation with Kraftwerk classics in Latino style. The performances of Kid Creole & The Coconuts and the legendary hip-hop\, reggae and Latin band Culcha Candela promise a feast for the ears in a class of its own. In addition\, with the Sparda Jazz Award\, we are once again offering young musicians a big stage. On the schauinsland-reisen Jazz Rally there is something for every jazz taste. Promised. \nIn its long history\, our festival has always developed and set new impulses. And also at the 29th edition of the schauinsland-reisen Jazz Rally we do not stand still. The Rhine Terrace will be the new musical hot spot of the Rally: With two stages\, perfect transport connections and a high-quality infrastructure\, the Rhine Terrace will replace the tent on Burgplatz in the future\, making the Rally even more attractive\, flexible and sustainable. This year\, our new concept “Streets of Sound” will be launched in the old town for the first time: On all three days of the event\, marching bands will create an exuberant atmosphere in the city. Of course\, there will also be the Sparda stage at Schadowplatz and much more to discover. \nFor selected indoor concerts\, we have put together a special starter package per festival day in order to make the ticket concept even more attractive. Also characteristic is the look of the famous Coconuts\, typically vintage and inspired by the 40s and 50s. \nFRANKIE & CANTHINA BAND\nHistorical Roman band born in 1991 from the meeting of musicians from different musical experiences. He immediately proposed\, a pioneer in Italy\, a soul/funky/dance repertoire typical of the 70s/80s. DESCRIPTION:Venoge Festival\, Switzerland\n\n \n\n\nAt this year’s Venoge Festival\, the 26th annual event\, which runs from August 17th – 21st\, you will see the likes of Iggy Pop\, Limp Bizkit\, Eagle Eye Cherry\, Alphaville\, Bob Sinclair plus many more awesome acts! \nIn the 90s\, there was in Penthalaz a branch of the Association of Parents of Students (APE). This association was very active. It is from it that were born\, among others\, school patrollers\, supervised studies and the youth room. These three activities\, although they have evolved over time\, still live. At the time\, several teenagers from Penthalaz had contacted the APE to request the opening of a youth premises. At the same time\, in Cossonay\, an Open Air stopped. This is where the idea of doing a mini-festival was born; the Rock’n’Air whose profits would be used to finance the first costs of the premises. This first festival had a very favorable echo in the village\, it was sunny\, it was hot and the success was immediate.\nWe will remember that the stage was a semi-trailer and that the groups were mainly from the region! With this success\, this enthusiasm\, these ideas that sprang up on both sides\, this friendship that bound us\, we thought it would be a shame to stop in such a good way. And this was the birth of the association La Cool’Hisse.\nAt the end of 2015\, the Venoge Festival became independent. The Cool’Hisse separates from her “baby” to focus on other less energy-intensive activities. The Venoge People Association is created with some old and new members.\nTwenty-five years later\, the Venoge Festival is stronger than ever. And the anniversary celebrated in 2019\, as well as previous editions prove its good health and the powerful link woven with the inhabitants and companies of the entire Gros-de-Vaud and Lausanne region.\nTwenty-five years are people who leave\, others who arrive\, new ideas\, different personalities and this alchemy makes its evolution surprising and exciting.\nThe magic still works at the Venoge Festival! \nFor TICKETS click here

DESCRIPTION:LIVE at Colosseo\nRome\, Italy\n \n   \n           &  \n\nKID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS is celebrating 42 years of musical madness this year.\nKID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS was born out of the red-hot embers of DR BUZZARD’S ORIGINAL SAVANNAH BAND. In the 1970’s the Savannah\nBand had successfully merged the big band sound of the 1940’s (Duke Ellington\, Cab Calloway\, Artie Shaw\, Count Basie\, Louis Prima) with the dance floor beat of the disco era. August Darnell (aka The Kid) jumped ship in 1981 and decided to form his own band. He fused the big band sound with every strain under the sun – calypso\, soca\, salsa\, rhythm and blues\, soul\, jazz\, funk\, hip-hop\, country and western\, etc.\, etc.\, etc. Kid Creole and the Coconuts thus became pioneers of what became known as mongrel music. In other words – a delicious but strange potpourri of Urban Tropicalism!\nEnjoying huge success around the world for over 40 years\, the band has so far released 15 albums\, 7 compilations and 30 singles. To celebrate the band’s 40th Anniversary\, KC&C re-released a special edition of their first studio album ‘Off the Coast of Me’ in 2020. At the end of 2021\, KC&C released their latest album entitled ‘Nothin’ Left but the Rest’. Some critics have already noted that this one is “arguably their best album yet!”\nThese days the Kid has his own record label called 2C2C Music. This is the home for all the band’s new releases. Kid Creole and the Coconuts are celebrating its 38th Anniversary this year. That is amazing! Kid claims this is the Farewell Tour\, but he has been saying this for 10 years.\n\nJoining him on stage this summer:\nThe Coconuts =\nSarah McGrath\nRoos Van Rossum\nCharlotte De Graaf\nThe Band =\nToby Goodman (drums)\nMark Anthony Jones (guitar)\nMichael Gorman (keys)\nOroh Angiama (bass)\nChris Storr (trumpet)\nBarnaby Dickinson (trombone)\nEdgar Jones (saxophone)\n\nKid Creole and the Coconuts was born out of the red hot embers of Dr. Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band. In the 1970’s the Savannah Band had successfully merged the big band sound of the 1940’s (Duke Ellington\, Cab Calloway\, Artie Shaw\, Count Basie\, Louis Prima) with the dance floor beat of the disco era. The Kid fused the big band sound with every strain under the sun – calypso\, soca\, salsa\, rhythm and blues\, soul\, jazz\, funk\, hiphop\, etc… with a strong accent on Caribbeanism. Kid Creole and the Coconuts thus became pioneers of what became known as mongrel music. It was built early in the 1st century AD. The structure is owned by the municipality of Orange and is the home of the summer opera festival\, the Chorégies d’Orange. \nIt is one of the best preserved of all Roman theatres\, and served the Roman colony of Arausio (or\, more specifically\, Colonia Julia Firma Secundanorum Arausio: “the Julian colony of Arausio established by the soldiers of the second legion”) which was founded in 40 BC. The composition of this group of the 80s has changed dramatically over the years\, we will mainly remember its leader August Darnell. Thomas August Darnell Browder\, or simply August Darnell was born inthe Bronx where he grew up\, New York bathing in the multiplicity of cultures and getting acquainted with many kinds of music. At the end of the 70s\, Andy Hernandez and August Darnell together set up the group Kid Creole and the Coconuts accompanied by many musicians. The group is not long to  talk about it with the release of their first single "Maladie d'amour" in 1980. The first album\,  "Off the coast of me" arrives the same year with thirteen titles. A year later\, they return with  "Fresh fruit in foreign places" a kind of musical travel diary with twelve titles. Follows then   "Tropical gangsters" who arrives at the 3rd place of the UK Albums Chart. In 1983\, Kid Creole &   the Coconuts released "Doppelganger" with titles such as "The lifeboat party" or "Broadway rhythm". With Kid Creole And The Coconuts\, the cocktail of soul-calypso-rock and self-deprecating rhythmsfinds its happiest expression\, with the luscious presence of the delightful Coconuts.\n \n40 summers young this summer \nWhat are forty birthday candles compared with the fireworks that light up Marciac every summer? If you drew the equation with the true length of the festival over four decades of thrills\, then you would have 600 nights at the least\, plus as many days of jubilation and\, for good measure\, almost 6\,000 raised curtains\, enough to wear out more than one national theatre… By way of a ruby anniversary marking its fidelity to a genre in music that recognizes how much it owes to the Gers village\, Jazz in Marciac is rewriting its pastoral symphony in rhythm this year. Everyone — Mayor\, godfathers\, maids of honour\, best men\, bridesmaids and witnesses — will be raining confetti over the finest parade ever held.  First in line\, in terms of protocol\, are those that we listen to come rain or come shine: Norah Jones\, the priestess with the voice of a healer\, returns to jazz; George Benson is synonymous with scat and guitar in unison; Herbie Hancock is a keyboard geek and the vehicle for 60 years of jazz\, all trends combined… In the seats reserved for the faithful we have: Roy Hargrove\, the worthy narrator of forms inherited from bebop; Stanley Clarke\, at the summit of his virtuoso double bass (and his brazen slap electric instrument); Biréli Lagrène\, the expert climber roping down from every peak of inspiration that takes his fancy… And Joshua Redman\, whose civilized manners hide a sense of freedom and purpose that his father would certainly have endorsed. And then we naturally come to our close family\, gathered together under the protective wings of Wynton Marsalis\, every one of whose contributions to Marciac has been duly notarized as authentic. The Latin cousins are coming too\, bringing their dances and that Afro-Cuban legitimacy without which the festival would have to relinquish its exotic\, heterogeneous and xenophile share in culture: Chucho Valdès and Roberto Fonseca feel at home there. Turbulent youngsters rightfully have their seats too: Emile Parisien (who has improvised a second birthplace for himself right here in Marciac on the benches of a school); Vincent Peirani\, an accordionist whose intriguing ubiquity speaks volumes for him; Electro Deluxe and Panam Panic\, retro and modern at the same time\, they are seekers and finders of groove. Finally\, all anniversaries have surprises: what statements are the Labèque Sisters going to make from behind a piano peppered with Basque percussion? Or Henri Texier\, a totem of the double bass\, lyrical and libertarian\, giving Manu Katché the keys of the metronome? Today more than ever\, the festival has taken up its summer quarters in every corner of the village: in Town Hall square to set the jazz tempo for the day; at the Astrada\, the cosy concourse where established artists (and promises already kept) will be showing the most intimate aspects of their talents. And here and there\, in the back of a bar\, jazz will be spreading its ephemeral eternity. Forty candles. And the flame is still there. Forty young summers making this particular summer worth the wait for everyone…

See you there. ” \nABC were formed in Sheffield in the 1980’s when they decided they wanted fuse the world of disco funk with their own unique post punk vision.  ABC’s debut album ‘The Lexicon Of Love’ (‘82) went to No 1 and sold over a million records.  To date ABC have released 8 studio albums: ‘The Lexicon Of Love’ (’82)\, ‘Beauty Stab’ (’83)\, ‘How To Be A Zillionaire’ (’85)\, ‘Alphabet City’ (’87)\, ‘Up’ (’89)\, ‘Abracadabra’ (’91)\, ‘Skyscraping’ (’97) and ‘Traffic’ (’08). A mere 34 years since the release of their landmark debut album ABC returned with their resounding triumph “The Lexicon Of Love II’ which immediately entered into the top 5. \nJoining the tour as special guests Kid Creole and The Coconuts who for over 35 years has been entertaining music lovers around the world. Kid Creole And The Coconuts was born out of the burning embers of the brilliant and trailblazing Dr Buzzard’s Original Savannah Band. \nBorn in the Bronx (New York)\, August Darnell (the Kid) is a man of multiple cultures\, inclinations and personalities. His love of the big band tradition is evident: he travels with 10 musicians who all share his love of the ultimate musical tapestry.
