SUMMARY:BYE BIRDY TOUR 2025
DESCRIPTION:BYE BYE BIRDY UK TOUR 2025\n\nKID CREOLE & THE COCONUTS \n’The Creolian Bye Bye Birdy’ Tour \n 2025 DATES\n BYE BYE BIRDIE TOUR 2025 \nWED JUNE 18TH | BIRMINGHAM\, TOWN HALL\nTHUR JUNE 19TH | CAMBRIDGE\, CORN EXCHANGE\nFRI JUNE 20TH | CARDIFF\, NEW THEATRE\nSAT JUNE 21ST | LONDON\, ROUNDHOUSE\nSUN JUNE 22ND | MANCHESTER\, 02 RITZ\nTUES JUNE 24TH | BATH\, THE FORUM\nWED JUNE 25TH | GUILDFORD\, G LIVE\nFRI JUNE 27TH | SUNDERLAND\, THE FIRE STATION\nSAT JUNE 28TH | EDINBURGH\, THE QUEEN’S HALL\nSUN JUNE 29TH | GLASGOW\, PAVILION THEATRE \nTICKETS \nON SALE NOW \n  \nA word from Kid Creole (August Darnell): \nHello Music Lovers of all ages and persuasions. \n Welcome to the Lifeboat Party! 15 years ago\, I said it was time for me to retire. I lied. It was not. 10 years ago\, I said\, “Now it is truly time for me to retire!” I lied. It was not. Now\, it is 2025. I’m not going to say it again. I’m just going to do it. \nIt’s been an amazing journey from my little neighborhood in the Bronx to every continent in the world. I could not have done it without one major companion – MUSIC. \n It is very fitting that the first BYE BYE BIRDY TOUR should take place in Great Britain because I am told that is where the first ‘foreign’ Kid Creole and the Coconuts Tour took place in 1981. I say ‘I am told’ because I have no recollection of such details. I trust the OTHERS who have better memories. And I say ‘foreign’ because the band was born in New York City. \n The music will live on. Of this I am certain. It is ageless.  \n May I introduce the cast? Of course. I am not alone on that stage. I am extremely fortunate to have by my side: \n Coconut – Roos Van Rossum \nCoconut – Charlotte De Graaf \nCoconut – Kristina Hanford \nM.D./ Keys – Mike Gorman \nKeys – Tim Vine \nBass – Otto Williams \nGuitar – Jamie McCredie \nGuitar – Mark Anthony Jones \nDrums – Dave Imby \nTrombone – Barnaby Dickinson \nSaxophone – Edgar Jones \nTrumpet – Nathan Bray \n I can guarantee two things:  We’re gonna have a funky good time. And you’re gonna find out who Annie’s Daddy really is. At last. \n HaChaChaCha! \n Tropical Gangsterly Yours\, \n The Kid

SUMMARY:Tamworth Assembly Rooms
DESCRIPTION:Tamworth Assembly Rooms\nFresh from a European tour and solo live show at The London Palladium\, Kid Creole & The Coconuts are appearing in Tamworth!\n \n1983 Brit Award Winner (International Artist)\n“a proper pop star\, someone beamed in from somewhere rather more glittery than here”. The Quietus\n\n“Mr August Darnell (Kid Creole) is a person we scarcely seem to deserve\, an unusually conscientious and industrious writer\, composer\, arranger\, producer\, player\, singer\, stage manager\, character\, bon vivant”. NME \nKid Creole\, the Sultan of Suave\, the High Priest of Hip and the Prince of Pizazz\, along with The Coconuts is a band who introduced Latin\, Calypso and Jive Fusion to a brand-new audience\, crossing genres and breaking boundaries throughout their always uplifting releases. \nBorn in the Bronx\, August Darnell adopted the name Kid Creole in 1980. Exposed in his childhood to the melting pot of sounds in New York\, Kid’s music is as influenced by Latin\, disco\, calypso\, rock’n’roll\, R&B\, jazz and funk as it is by the Beatles and Frank Sinatra and Cab Calloway!!! \nBut what would the Kid be without his Coconuts? Just another tree in the forest. That infamous\, glamorous female trio is the perfect foil to Kid’s zoot-suited\, larger-than-life personae. Kid loves his Nuts as much as he loves his clothes. But make no mistake\, Kid Creole remains an artist who is incredibly well-read\, incisive\, irreverent and unafraid to break with conventions on all levels. \nEnjoying huge success around the world for over 42 years\, the band has so far released 17 albums\, 7 compilations and more than 30 singles. Their biggest hits to date include ‘Annie I’m Not Your Daddy’\, ‘Stool Pigeon’\, ‘I’m a Wonderful Thing\, baby’\, ‘Endicott’\, ‘My Male Curiosity’ and ‘The Lifeboat Party’. \nSunday 1st September 2024\, 7.30pm\nDoors open at 6:30pm\nShow Starts: 7:30pm\nTickets: £33.00\nLocation: Tamworth Assembly Rooms\nPhone: 01827 709 618\nWebsite

SUMMARY:LIVE at Colosseo
DESCRIPTION:LIVE at Colosseo\nRome\, Italy\n \n   \n & \n\nKID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS is celebrating 42 years of musical madness this year.\nKID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS was born out of the red-hot embers of DR BUZZARD’S ORIGINAL SAVANNAH BAND. In the 1970’s the Savannah\nBand had successfully merged the big band sound of the 1940’s (Duke Ellington\, Cab Calloway\, Artie Shaw\, Count Basie\, Louis Prima) with the dance floor beat of the disco era. August Darnell (aka The Kid) jumped ship in 1981 and decided to form his own band. He fused the big band sound with every strain under the sun – calypso\, soca\, salsa\, rhythm and blues\, soul\, jazz\, funk\, hip-hop\, country and western\, etc.\, etc.\, etc. Kid Creole and the Coconuts thus became pioneers of what became known as mongrel music. In other words – a delicious but strange potpourri of Urban Tropicalism!\nEnjoying huge success around the world for over 40 years\, the band has so far released 15 albums\, 7 compilations and 30 singles. To celebrate the band’s 40th Anniversary\, KC&C re-released a special edition of their first studio album ‘Off the Coast of Me’ in 2020. At the end of 2021\, KC&C released their latest album entitled ‘Nothin’ Left but the Rest’. Some critics have already noted that this one is “arguably their best album yet!”\nThese days the Kid has his own record label called 2C2C Music. This is the home for all the band’s new releases. Get involved.

The structure is owned by the municipality of Orange and is the home of the summer opera festival\, the Chorégies d’Orange. \nIt is one of the best preserved of all Roman theatres\, and served the Roman colony of Arausio (or\, more specifically\, Colonia Julia Firma Secundanorum Arausio: “the Julian colony of Arausio established by the soldiers of the second legion”) which was founded in 40 BC. Playing a major role in the life of the citizens\, who spent a large part of their free time there\, the theatre was seen by the Roman authorities not only as a means of spreading Roman culture to the colonies\, but also as a way of distracting them from all political activities. \n  \n \n
